Beef, Sirloin Tip Roast
Sirloin Steak
From Hagerman Ranch, Greycliff, Montana
Sirloin Steaks are the most tender of the round cuts. Our sirloin steaks are cut to 1" thickness and have an average weight of 1.25 lbs. Best if marinated and sliced thin, against the grain.
About this cut
The sirloin tip roast is cut from the hindquarters of the animal and is given the name "sirloin tip roast" because anatomically it is located next to the tip of the sirloin (where sirloin steaks come from). Since sirloin tip is leaner than other beef cuts, it has less than 150 calories per 3 oz, much less than a prime rib.
How to cook it
A sirloin tip roast is best when cooked like all the other roast cuts -- long and slow. We think it is especially delicious when roasted and cut into thin slices. Because it is lean and full of flavor, you will get juicy roasted beef slices without fighting much fat. Here is a recipe that looks delicious and is very economical to make, requiring few ingredients: https://www.frugalmomeh.com/sirloin-tip-roast.html
